Psychotherapy • End of Life • Grief Support • Parts Work

... And I have become the child of the clouds, and of hope.
I have become the friend of the enemy, whoever that is.
I have become older and, cherishing what I have learned,
I have become younger.
And what do I risk to tell you this, which is all I know?
Love yourself. Then forget it. Then, love the world.
Mary Oliver, Evidence: Poems
Internal Family Systems or "Parts Work" is an embodied experiential therapeutic approach that creates a meeting between the young, wounded, rigid parts of ourselves and the expansive, healing capacity that lies within each of us. Originally developed as a treatment for eating disorders, IFS offers a radical shift in western psychology that relies not on the expert therapist but on our inner resources for emotional, psychological and spiritual changes.
For meditation blocks, inner conflicts, and self-leadership
Many people who meditate, engage in spiritual practice, or do personal growth work eventually run into inner resistance — parts that don’t want to sit, that feel afraid, numb, angry, or overwhelmed, or that sabotage consistency and commitment.
IFS (Internal Family Systems) coaching offers a way to meet these inner dynamics with curiosity, compassion, and clarity.
This work helps you:
-
Understand the different “parts” of you that pull in different directions
-
Develop more inner stability and self-leadership
-
Work skillfully with emotional or motivational blocks
-
Support your meditation or spiritual practice
-
Increase clarity, agency, and inner cooperation
Rather than trying to eliminate or override parts, we listen to them, learn their protective roles, and help them soften so deeper wisdom can guide you.
What is IFS coaching?
IFS-based coaching is a non-clinical, non-medical form of support that uses the Internal Family Systems framework for self-understanding, growth, and integration.
Unlike psychotherapy, IFS coaching:
-
Does not involve diagnosis
-
Does not treat mental health conditions
-
Is not billed to insurance
-
Is not regulated as medical or mental health care
Instead, it focuses on:
-
Self-awareness
-
Inner dialogue and emotional literacy
-
Navigating internal conflicts
-
Supporting spiritual and life goals
IFS coaching is especially helpful for people who are functioning in daily life but feel stuck, conflicted, or blocked internally.
When psychotherapy may be a better fit
IFS coaching is not a substitute for mental health treatment.
If you are experiencing:
-
Severe or debilitating anxiety or depression
-
Trauma symptoms
-
Significant impairment in daily functioning
-
Crisis or safety concerns
…psychotherapy may be more appropriate. I also offer psychotherapy as a licensed clinical social worker and can help you choose the right level of support.
How sessions work
IFS coaching sessions are collaborative and experiential. We slow down, notice what is happening inside, and gently explore the different parts of you that are present.
Sessions may include:
-
Mapping inner parts
-
Listening to protective or resistant parts
-
Supporting nervous system regulation
-
Integrating insights into your daily life and meditation practice
This is not about forcing change — it’s about creating enough safety and understanding that change becomes possible.
Sessions are $120 per 45 minutes session. Sliding scale available.
